Retail stocks are nearing the end of their iconic earnings week, but overall performance is still recording a decline. Although the State Street SPDR S&P Retail ETF followed a rebound in Friday afternoon trading and rose nearly 1%, the fund's cumulative decline this week was still more than 1%. In terms of individual stocks, the stock prices of AutoZone and Walmart fell sharply after the financial reports were released. This week they plummeted by about 25% and 11%, respectively, and became the main factor dragging down the fund's performance. If these declines continue until the close, it will be the biggest weekly decline for AutoZone since 2023 and Walmart since 2022. However, the strong performance of department store retailer Dillard's and pet e-commerce company Chewy helped limit the fund's decline, and both stocks rose more than 8% this week.
