Last week saw the newest second-quarter earnings release from Holmen AB (publ) (STO:HOLM B), an important milestone in the company's journey to build a stronger business. Results overall were respectable, with statutory earnings of kr3.30 per share roughly in line with what the analysts had forecast. Revenues of kr5.6b came in 5.2% ahead of analyst predictions. Earnings are an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance, look at what the analysts are forecasting for next year, and see if there's been a change in sentiment towards the company. We thought readers would find it interesting to see the analysts latest (statutory) post-earnings forecasts for next year.
Following last week's earnings report, Holmen's eight analysts are forecasting 2026 revenues to be kr21.9b, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are forecast to descend 15% to kr14.91 in the same period. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of kr21.7b and earnings per share (EPS) of kr15.20 in 2026. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.

It will come as no surprise then, to learn that the consensus price target is largely unchanged at kr341. It could also be instructive to look at the range of analyst estimates, to evaluate how different the outlier opinions are from the mean. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Holmen at kr400 per share, while the most bearish prices it at kr285. This shows there is still a bit of diversity in estimates, but analysts don't appear to be totally split on the stock as though it might be a success or failure situation.
Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. We would highlight that revenue is expected to reverse, with a forecast 3.8% annualised decline to the end of 2026. That is a notable change from historical growth of 2.4% over the last five years. Compare this with our data, which suggests that other companies in the same industry are, in aggregate, expected to see their revenue grow 2.2% per year. So although its revenues are forecast to shrink, this cloud does not come with a silver lining - Holmen is expected to lag the wider industry.
The most obvious conclusion is that there's been no major change in the business' prospects in recent times, with the analysts holding their earnings forecasts steady, in line with previous estimates. Fortunately, the analysts also reconfirmed their revenue estimates, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Although our data does suggest that Holmen's revenue is expected to perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Holmen going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here..
