Statistics Canada released the “National Tourism and Tourist Travel Survey Report for the First Quarter of 2026”. The data shows that in the first quarter, the total number of domestic and foreign trips for Canadian residents was 78.7 million, up 1.5% year on year; the total number of inbound visitors was 4.5 million, up 3.5% year on year. 5.5 million people traveled to the US, down 10.6% year on year, of which 37.5% were same-day round trips. Total spending on travel to the US was $5 billion, down 13.6% year over year.
