Gubra Flags $50 Million Milestone Payment as AbbVie Begins Phase 2 Study of Obesity Drug

The study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of ABBV-295 in 360 adults with obesity and at least one weight-related comorbidity, with the percentage change in body weight from baseline at week 32 as the primary endpoint. The disease-agnostic techbio company and AbbVie signed a license agreement for ABBV-295 in March 2025, with Gubra eligible to receive milestone payments of up to $1.88 billion.
