Bank of America securities analysts recently pointed out that several factors may put pressure on semiconductor stocks in the short term, but at the same time, they believe this may create buying opportunities. Bank of America believes that potential concerns facing the semiconductor industry include rising interest rates, public resistance to data center projects, geopolitics, circular financing issues, and market positioning. Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya and his team wrote in an investor report: “Although this downside risk is unreasonable from a fundamental point of view, we believe the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index still has a downside risk of about 10%, which will bring its valuation back to a historical level, with a discount compared to the S&P 500 index.”
