National Energy Administration: Electricity traded in the national electricity market increased by 23.4% year-on-year from January to July 2026

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 27, data from the National Energy Administration showed that in July 2026, various electricity trading agencies across the country completed the transaction volume of 740.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 18.5% over the previous year. Looking at the scope of transactions, the amount of electricity traded within the province was 549.1 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 19.0% over the previous year; the amount of electricity traded across provinces and regions was 191.3 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 17.2% over the previous year. In terms of trading types, the medium- to long-term electricity trading volume is 678.6 billion kilowatt-hours; spot trading electricity volume is 61.8 billion kilowatt-hours. Green power traded 27.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 2.7% over the previous year. The market-based agents of power grid companies purchased 87.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

From January to July 2026, electricity trading agencies across the country completed a total of 4425.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity transactions, an increase of 23.4% over the previous year. Looking at the scope of transactions, the amount of electricity traded within the province was 3462.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 26.8% over the previous year; the amount of electricity traded across provinces and regions was 962.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 12.5% over the previous year. In terms of trading types, the medium- to long-term electricity trading volume is 3935.4 billion kilowatt-hours; spot trading electricity volume is 489.8 billion kilowatt-hours. Green electricity transactions amounted to 191.8 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.6% over the previous year. The market-based agents of power grid companies purchased 485.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
