AstraZeneca, Amgen's Tezspire Improves Eosinophilic Esophagitis Symptoms in Late-stage Trial

02:48 AM EDT, 08/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) and Amgen's Tezspire showed statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in the symptoms of eosinophilic esophagitis in a late-stage study, , according to a Thursday release. The phase 3 Crossing trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of Tezspire in patients aged 12 to 80 years with symptomatic and histologically active eosinophilic esophagitis. It was administered subcutaneously every four weeks in the study, which had co-primary endpoints of histologic remission and dysphagia symptoms. The companies plan to share the full trial results with regulatory agencies and at an upcoming medical meeting. Tezspire, or tezepelumab, is currently approved for severe asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps in the US, European Union, China and Japan. Studies evaluating the drug in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are also ongoing.
