11:23 PM EDT, 08/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google agreed to pay 260 million pounds sterling to settle a class action in the UK over allegations that it abused its market position and caused losses for app sellers on the Play Store. Competition law academic Professor Barry Rodger initiated the opt-out collective action on behalf of UK app developers, according to a Thursday release. Losses claimed are for app sales to Android customers from August 2018. The settlement agreement remains subject to the approval of the Competition Appeal Tribunal at a hearing scheduled for Sept. 15. The US technology giant did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
