Amazon announced that it has signed a long-term agreement to purchase electricity from four wind farms in Sweden to help meet its electricity needs during the expansion of its data center in the Nordic countries. The deals will add nearly 200 megawatts of electricity, and Amazon says once fully operational, its electricity supply in Sweden will exceed 1 gigawatt. The company said 1 gigawatt of wind power generation capacity is enough to power more than 350,000 homes each year, but did not provide further details on the latest deal. In 2025, Amazon became the largest buyer of non-fossil energy companies in Sweden. Globally, Amazon has invested in over 700 such projects with a total installed capacity of over 40 gigawatts.
