Macau Statistics and Census Service: The average room occupancy rate of Macau's hotel establishments rose to 91.6% year-on-year in July

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to data from the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau, in July 2026, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms in the hotel business rose 0.5 percentage points year on year to 91.6%. Among them, the occupancy rates of five-star (94.2%) and four-star (90.3%) hotels increased by 0.2 and 3.8 percentage points, respectively, while the occupancy rate of three-star hotels (85.5%) decreased by 1.5 percentage points.

In July this year, the number of hotel guests decreased by 4.3% year on year to 1,229,000; guests from mainland China (923,000) and Hong Kong SAR (145,000) decreased by 3.9% and 13.8% respectively; international guests (89,000) increased by 9.5% year on year. Among them, guests from India (80,000), Thailand (80,000), and the United States (60,000) increased by 81.1%, 21.2%, and 24.4%, respectively, while guests from South Korea (25,000) and Japan (50,000) decreased by 3.0% and 7.7%

The number of inbound visitors in July was 141,000, a year-on-year decrease of 6.7%; the number of group visitors from mainland China decreased by 7.2% to 123,000.

In the first seven months of this year, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms in the hotel industry rose 1.2 percentage points year on year to 90.6%, and the number of guests decreased by 1.4% to 8.367 million; the total number of international guests was 753 million, an increase of 12.2%. Meanwhile, the total number of inbound visitors in the first seven months fell 11.4% year over year to 99,000.
