Rubrik stock just absorbed a 13% hit in a single session, yet the headline from this quarter is not collapse, it is traction. The company walked into this print on a strong 30 day run and then met a sentiment wall after posting another quarterly loss. At the same time, subscription annual recurring revenue of US$1.66b and free cash flow of US$65.7m show a business that is gaining scale while the income statement still runs in the red.
Is Rubrik a genuine growth opportunity priced at a discount, or does the mix of losses, rich P/S multiple and negative equity point to a value trap in the making? Compare that story with our valuation analysis for Rubrik

Bulls argue that Rubrik can turn its cyber resilience and agentic AI positioning into compounding subscription ARR and improving unit economics. Q2 results offer concrete proof points. Subscription ARR reached US$1.66b with net new ARR of about US$96m, and subscription revenue of US$407.2m is now the clear engine of the business. Large customers with at least US$100k ARR contribute 88% of subscription ARR, and that cohort expanded again, which supports the thesis that Rubrik can keep landing and expanding in large enterprises and governments.
Profitability milestones also moved in the right direction. Subscription ARR contribution margin improved by roughly 460 basis points year on year to 14% on a trailing basis. Free cash flow of US$65.7m and non GAAP gross margin near 81% show better economics even as Rubrik continues to invest in Identity Resilience and Rubrik Agent Cloud.
Compare these improving economics with how institutions are resetting their expectations. See the consensus price target analysis for Rubrik to check whether Wall Street targets are moving in the same direction as the bullish Rubrik thesis. The core bearish worry on Rubrik is that headline growth hides fragile economics, early stage products that may not scale, and an execution bar that is already too high. This quarter does not support weak demand concerns. Subscription ARR reached US$1.66b, net retention stayed above 119% and large customer counts continued to expand.
Where bears still find footing is in the quality and sources of that growth. Management confirmed that cloud migration benefits are largely behind the company and that non cloud and sovereign demand is now doing more of the work. That raises the hurdle for Identity Resilience and Rubrik Agent Cloud to prove they can carry the next leg. Rubrik also remains loss making, carries US$1.13b of convertible debt and is guiding to only gradual margin improvement. A 13% one day share price drop suggests investors remain unconvinced those execution risks are fully addressed.
