Listen to the news

We wouldn't blame Fennec Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:FENC) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Robert Andrade, the Chief Financial Officer recently netted about US$1.3m selling shares at an average price of US$11.79. That sale reduced their total holding by 33% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Fennec Pharmaceuticals

In fact, the recent sale by Robert Andrade was the biggest sale of Fennec Pharmaceuticals shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$12.27). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was only 33% of Robert Andrade's holding.

Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 180.20k shares worth US$421k. But insiders sold 139.39k shares worth US$1.5m.
