Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Garibabadi said that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz, but the agreement will not be implemented until the US fulfills its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Garibabadi said on Saturday: “The Strait of Hormuz is still closed, and all ships passing through the strait must coordinate with Iran.” He added: “We will continue to take defensive measures and are ready to deal with any situation.” Referring to the recent visit of Qatari and Pakistani officials to Iran, Garibabadi said that the purpose of the visit was to assess whether the parties could resume implementing the commitments in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
