Today, a press conference on the “8.26” landslide disaster in Geelong, Tibet was held in Jilong Town. On the morning of August 26, a landslide disaster occurred on the Nepalese side, causing serious casualties and loss of connectivity at Geelong Port in Jilong County, Shigatse City, Tibet. It was explained at the conference that after the disaster occurred, Tibet quickly initiated the autonomous region's first-level emergency response for natural disasters and the autonomous region's first-level emergency response for natural disasters, and established the “8.26” landslide disaster emergency rescue headquarters and front headquarters in Jilong County. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management urgently disbursed 120 million yuan, and the National Development and Reform Commission allocated 100 million yuan to support emergency relief and post-disaster emergency recovery work. At present, 2,141 rescue forces from the People's Liberation Army, the Armed Police, the Chinese Fire and Rescue Team, border guards, public security, and China Energy have been mobilized, 269 rescue vehicles have been dispatched, and 3,922 sets of rescue equipment have been put into the frontline to carry out search and rescue work. Now, water, land, and air are advancing simultaneously into the affected core area.
