The US Department of Defense announced on August 21 the dismissal of “Stars and Stripes” editor-in-chief Eric Slevin, publisher Max Radler, and the newspaper's senior Middle Eastern affairs journalist Lala Colt on August 21 for “disobeying orders.” The three parties then filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Defense. On August 28, at the request of the judge, the US Department of Defense announced that the execution of the dismissal order would be suspended for one week.
