According to Ezhou Customs data, from January to July of this year, 13,000 tons of fresh agricultural products such as Boston lobster and salmon were imported from North America, Europe and other regions, with a value of 1.28 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% over the previous year. Liu Shi, head of the Ezhou Customs Supervision Section 1, which belongs to Wuhan Customs, explained that in order for fresh seafood from across the ocean to “land and run smoothly”, Ezhou Customs has created an exclusive green channel for fresh food and implemented convenient measures such as 7×24 hour customs clearance and early declaration. In recent years, the trend that Chinese people love to eat “fresh” has become more and more obvious. Data show that from 2021 to 2025, China's share of imported meat fell from 44.7% to 31.2%, and aquatic products surpassed meat as the largest imported category for the first time in 2025; fruit and shrimp grew rapidly, and the increase in fruit imports was mainly due to the volume of Vietnamese, Thai durians, and Chilean cherries.
