The Roman Space Telescope will use its wide-field instruments and corona instruments to carry out large-scale sky surveys. According to the plan, the Roman Space Telescope will go to the L2 point of Solar-Terrestrial Lagrange, which is about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth. This point is in a gravitational balance position with the Earth's back to the side of the Sun. The Roman Space Telescope will have a wider field of view than low-Earth orbiting telescopes such as Hubble. NASA said that the Roman Space Telescope is designed to run for 5 years and can support extended missions for an additional 5 years. The first batch of scientific images taken by it is expected to be released in early 2027.
