Junlebao Dairy Group Co., Ltd. issued an article stating, “On August 26, the Food Safety Centre of the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department reported on the testing of a batch of our room temperature pure milk, which attracted widespread attention from consumers and all sectors of society. The company has always taken food safety as the lifeline of the enterprise. A special investigation team was set up as soon as possible. The relevant situation is now explained as follows: The products involved in the notification are our batch of UHT room temperature pure milk in 1-liter cartons, and it was found that the sample colony count exceeded the standards of Hong Kong's “Dairy Industry Regulations”. A spokesman for the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety said that a colony count exceeding legal standards indicates that the hygiene of the product is not ideal, but this does not indicate that it will cause food poisoning. Currently, all products in this batch are sealed in Hong Kong importers' warehouses and have not entered the market. Our company attaches great importance to this matter and actively cooperates with the Hong Kong Food Safety Centre to conduct a comprehensive review of the production process, delivery process, export, storage and transportation process of this batch of products. After verification: The product was designed in the Hong Kong version of the traditional Chinese packaging. All products were supplied to Hong Kong and were not sold in other markets; the batch of products was tested by our company before leaving the factory and complied with mainland and Hong Kong standards; the batch of products arrived in Hong Kong after leaving the factory, transportation, and customs clearance, and fully complied with the export supervision process; after the incident, the batch of products was tested by the Shijiazhuang Customs Technical Center. The inspection report was issued on August 30. According to the investigation of the whole process, it was confirmed that some products were damaged due to improper operation during handling after the batch of products arrived at the Hong Kong warehouse, causing the sealing of some products to be damaged or contaminated, resulting in abnormal sampling of the batch of products. This batch of products was in storage at the time of sampling and had not entered the market circulation process. We apologize for the impact and concern this incident has had on the public, our partners and all sectors of society who care about us. The company will comprehensively strengthen quality control throughout the process, control every step with the strictest attitude, resolutely adhere to the bottom line of quality, ensure the health and safety of consumers, and live up to every trust.”
