TransNusa taps new KL-Bandar Lampung route

PETALING JAYA: PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri is betting on an “untapped” Kuala Lumpur (KL)-Bandar Lampung route as it expands its regional network, becoming the first airline to offer direct scheduled flights between Malaysia and Indonesia’s southern gateway to Sumatra.

In a statement, TransNusa said the new route adopts a point-to-point travel model that eliminates the need for passengers to transit through Jakarta. “By introducing an innovative point-to-point travel model that entirely bypasses congested capital transit hubs like Jakarta, TransNusa establishes a vital new gateway that slashes travel and transit times by half.”

Group chief executive officer Datuk Bernard Francis described the route as a new chapter in the airline’s regional expansion, opening what he called a “pristine” and “untapped” corridor that offers greater convenience for travellers.

“This is yet another innovative route development designed from the ground up to establish direct links where none existed before, transforming regional accessibility and creating robust economic and tourism bridges between these two dynamic destinations,” he said.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani added that the new service expands air connectivity between Malaysia and Indonesia.
