Orexo Reaches Preliminary $4 Million Settlement for US Department of Justice Probe

02:41 AM EDT, 08/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Orexo (ORX.ST) signed a nonbinding agreement in principle with the US Department of Justice to resolve an investigation that has been ongoing since 2020. Under the proposed settlement, the Swedish pharmaceutical company would pay $4 million in installments over several years, according to a Monday release. It could also make an additional capped payment equal to 5% of net sales if certain sales thresholds are met in 2030 and 2031. The settlement would comprise a non-prosecution agreement and a separate civil settlement, with no admission of wrongdoing by Orexo or any current or former employees. Orexo expects to recognize a $4 million provision for the expected liability. The company is in the final stages of negotiating a final settlement agreement.
