Nvidia will invest $3.5 billion in MediaTek to deepen its collaboration with MediaTek. Currently, Nvidia is trying to persuade more companies to develop chips to suit its dominant data center ecosystem. The two companies issued a joint statement on Monday saying that Nvidia will buy bonds that can be converted into MediaTek shares. The investment expanded the partnership between the two chip designers. MediaTek will use NVLink Fusion and newly released NVHBM technology as part of Nvidia's technology suite to enable smoother interconnection of components within data centers. MediaTek is helping data center operators develop their own hardware components to compete with Broadcom and Meiman Electronics. For Nvidia, this new agreement is its latest move to ensure that the future development of artificial intelligence revolves around its own hardware platform and technical standards. The company has been building data center interconnection systems such as NVLink Fusion and collaborating with companies such as MediaTek to consolidate its central position in the entire hardware industry chain, rather than just relying on high-performance AI acceleration chips. Prior to this partnership with MediaTek, Amazon had already issued a similar announcement and plans to deploy 2 million more Nvidia chips. The key point is that Amazon also promised to use Nvidia's interconnect technology on its own self-developed chips.
