The US Federal Trade Commission plans to file a lawsuit against Amazon on Monday, accusing the e-commerce giant of manipulating the paid prices of advertisements placed by merchants on its retail platforms and using this to obtain tens of billions of dollars in revenue over seven years. The lawsuit will be filed in Seattle federal court with the joint participation of bipartisan attorneys general from more than 20 states. Federal Trade Commission officials say the lawsuit accuses Amazon of deceiving ad publishers by concealing adjustments to the lowest ad bid.
