Logistics company OneRail is about to launch a platform that uses Nvidia artificial intelligence software to help retailers quickly select the most efficient delivery plans on a large scale. This new platform, called OmniStar, relies on OneRail's proprietary data to allow retailers to use artificial intelligence to evaluate all delivery options and select the best delivery plan for each individual order. The terminal delivery company said that the new platform can help small and medium-sized enterprises achieve large-scale delivery and increase profit margins to compete with global retail giants such as Amazon and Walmart. As the e-commerce industry develops, retailers must respond to surging market demand and invest in building a flexible supply chain to improve operational efficiency. However, this kind of manual processing process is often divided between retailers and logistics service providers. Bill Catania, CEO of OneRail, said, “If quick decisions cannot be made, profits will be lost, and the cost of terminal fulfillment will be very high.” According to OneRail, it used to take 20 minutes to select the optimal delivery route for a package, but with artificial intelligence, the platform only takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete. According to Catania, the time saved can help retailers build larger, more responsive and more accurate supply chains. David Deschler, head of OneRail's artificial intelligence business, said, “This is where artificial intelligence comes into play. It can complete these kinds of decisions very quickly, and to achieve this capability, Nvidia's software and hardware are required to truly guarantee the large-scale operation of the platform.”
