On September 1, local time, defense ministers of EU member states held an informal meeting to focus on topics such as military support for Ukraine, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and the situation in the Middle East. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Callas said after the meeting that Ukraine's defense minister once again emphasized on the same day that air defense is still one of Ukraine's most urgent needs, but the defense ministers of the member states have not made any substantial progress in this regard. Callas said that the EU is looking for more sources of air defense equipment and interceptor bombs, and called on EU member states to re-evaluate their own stocks and consider supplying or selling the “Patriots” air defense system interceptor bombs to Ukraine that are about to expire.
