Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun presided over a regular press conference on September 2. An AFP reporter asked about the exact number of people missing during the landslide disaster in Nepal. Guo Jiakun said that the relevant situation was explained in detail at the press conference held by the Tibet Autonomous Region, and yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also gave a briefing to the embassies of the countries concerned in China. Currently, 261 missing foreigners have been detected in the disaster, involving 23 countries. Guo Jiakun said that we are willing to maintain communication, coordination and cooperation with all parties to work together to map out and dispose of missing persons. Up to now, nearly 100 Chinese citizens have lost their connection in the affected areas of Nepal. The Chinese side thanks and hopes that the Nepalese side will continue to rescue the Chinese citizens transferred to Nepal.
