A total of 1967 owners of 8 buildings A to H signed and returned the “Letter of Acceptance of the Proposal for Acquisition” confirming the sale of property rights to the HKSAR Government, accounting for 99.1% of the total number of units in the eight buildings. At this point, this title acquisition plan for landlords affected by the fire has officially entered the implementation stage. The total acquisition cost of residential units in 8 buildings is approximately HK$7.8 billion. A spokesman for the Housing Authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government said that some of the “letters of acceptance of the acquisition proposal” or later delivered by post, as long as they are postmarked with an August 31 or earlier stamp, the Housing Authority considers the relevant landlords to have accepted the government acquisition proposal and arranges to sign a formal sale agreement after confirming that the information is correct. As of the afternoon of August 31, the HKSAR Government had signed formal sales agreements with 1,559 households, accounting for about 78.6% of the total number of owners' households. The signing of formal transfer agreements is also being carried out in an orderly manner.
