The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued a statement on the 2nd saying that the two tankers hit and exploded by lightning in the relevant waters of the Strait of Hormuz on the same day and are currently burning. The statement said that a few hours ago, the two tankers withdrew their crew “at the instigation of the US military” and handed over the ships to US personnel to pass through an “illegal route,” and then exploded by lightning after sailing into a minefield. The statement said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy of Iran had previously issued a warning about ships passing through the Buried Channel. Iran has formulated additional punitive measures for shipping companies that do not follow the “legal routes” stipulated by Iran and hand over ships to “enemy” control, and will soon implement them.
