06:44 AM EDT, 09/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- RWE (RWE.F) said Wednesday that five lignite-fired power plant units in Germany's Rhenish lignite area were taken off the grid following an incident near an Amprion substation. The German energy group said the units have a combined power station capacity of 4,200 megawatts and were feeding 3,000 MW into the grid. RWE Power is working with Amprion and relevant authorities to bring the units back online. The Neurath G and Niederaußem H units are expected to be reconnected early Wednesday, with the Neurath F unit to follow later in the day. The remaining Niederaußem G and K units are expected to be reconnected by the weekend.
