Municipal Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Chairman Chen Huaiyu of the Export-Import Bank of China, Governor Wang Chunying, and representatives of international business institutions who came to Shanghai this afternoon to attend the 4th International Ship Finance Forum. Chen Jining welcomed the hosting of the 4th International Ship Finance Forum by the Export-Import Bank of China in Shanghai, and briefed Chinese and foreign guests on the latest developments in Shanghai's economic and social development, particularly the construction of an international shipping center. Chen Jining said that as China's economic center city and a frontier window for reform and opening up, Shanghai is speeding up the construction of the “Five Centers” and striving to give full play to the leading driving and exemplary leading role in advancing Chinese-style modernization. The city of Shanghai grew because of its port and because of shipping. We are focusing on seizing opportunities for green and intelligent transformation of shipping, continuously improving our ability to allocate shipping resources globally, and vigorously promoting the high-quality development of the shipping industry. The enterprises and organizations present have been deeply involved in China and Shanghai for many years. They are witnesses and participants in the construction of the Shanghai International Shipping Center. We welcome them to make better use of their advantages, strengthen cooperation and interface between the two sides, and place more new shipping businesses, new projects, and new institutions in Shanghai. We will continue to create a market-based, rule-of-law, and international first-class business environment, accelerate the development of the shipping service industry, and support shipping enterprises and institutions to achieve better development in Shanghai.
