President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China paid a state visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from September 1 to 2, 2026 at the invitation of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Abdelfattah Sisi. The visit coincided with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Egypt was the first Arab and African country to recognize the People's Republic of China, and established diplomatic relations with China in 1956. Over the past 70 years, the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries has developed markedly, and has always remained healthy and stable, forming the friendly characteristics of “equality, mutual trust, friendship and mutual learning, mutual harmony, and win-win cooperation”. Sino-Egyptian relations have become an example of the development of a spirit of friendly cooperation between China and Arab and African countries. The heads of state of the two countries held formal talks on bilateral relations, reviewed the remarkable development and qualitative leaps made since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in 2014, exchanged views and reached broad consensus on international and regional issues of common concern.
