Ciena: Fiscal Q3 Earnings Snapshot

HANOVER, Md. (AP) — HANOVER, Md. (AP) — Ciena Corp. (CIEN) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $266.4 million.

On a per-share basis, the Hanover, Maryland-based company said it had profit of $1.83. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $2.11 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.74 per share.

The developer of high-speed networking technology posted revenue of $1.67 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.65 billion.

For the current quarter ending in October, Ciena said it expects revenue in the range of $1.25 billion to $2.25 billion.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $6.37 billion to $6.47 billion.
