Recently, the Silk Road Tourism Cities Alliance 2026 “Silk Road Dialogue” and Annual Meeting series of events was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The event coincided with the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the Alliance. It was the first time that the League went out of China to host an annual conference, and Istanbul became the first non-Chinese city to hold the rotating chairmanship of the League. The event was co-hosted by the Sino-Foreign Cultural and Tourism Exchange Center of the Alliance Secretariat and the Istanbul Municipal Government. Chinese and foreign guests, including Wei Xiaodong, Chinese Consul General in Istanbul, Zhang Weiguo, Director of the Sino-Foreign Cultural and Tourism Exchange Center, Nuri Aslan, Acting Mayor of Istanbul, and Francisco Frangali, Honorary Secretary General of the United Nations Tourism Organization, as well as more than 500 people attended the conference, including representatives of alliance member cities, international tourism organization officials, political representatives from many countries, and experts and scholars.
