Indonesia's Ministry of Forestry issued a statement on Friday saying that a fire broke out in the forest area franchised by five companies in West Kalimantan, and the government has suspended the five companies' forest management permits. The companies involved are: Mahkota Rimba Utama, Hutan Ketapang Industri, Mayawana Persada Mas, Duta Andalan Sukses, and Wana Lestari Jaya. At the same time, these companies are required to carry out ecological restoration in areas affected by the fire. The total area of the five forest concessions was about 2,569 hectares. Of these, the Mahkota Rimba Forest Area affected the largest area, reaching 1,276 hectares. The Ministry of Forestry has previously imposed penalties on six other businesses in the Kalimantan region.
