Hogs Falling Lower on Friday

Lean hog futures are showing losses of $1.05 to $1.50 across most contracts on Friday. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Friday morning due to thin volume. The CME Lean Hog Index was up another 23 cents on September 2 at $91.08. The market will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up 14 cents in the Friday AM report, at $91.26. The ham was the only primal reported lower. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Thursday at 467,000 head, with the week to date total at 1.883 million head. That is now 18,000 head below the previous week.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $82.400, down $1.050,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $72.450, down $1.475

Feb 27 Hogs are at $75.100, down $1.500,
