Tesla's stock price fell more than 6% intraday on Friday. Previously, the company's highly anticipated Cybercab driverless taxi update failed to meet Wall Street expectations, and investors were concerned about its ability to compete with Waymo in the US robot taxi market. Tesla held a Cybercab event in Austin, Texas on Thursday. The event was attended by guests only, was not livestreamed, and CEO Musk did not attend. The company said that users can experience Cybercab driverless service in limited areas in Austin through the Tesla Robotaxi ride-hailing app. A capital market analyst at the Royal Bank of Canada said that Tesla's event revealed only limited new information, and key issues such as pricing, production pace, and regulatory approval remain unresolved. Wells Fargo analysts also called the “Cybercab launch event disappointing,” and pointed out that Tesla's Austin robot taxi service is facing early operational issues. Additionally, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated a “review inquiry” to confirm whether Cybercab complies with federal safety standards and has completed relevant safety certifications. Previously, Tesla shares rose 5.4% the day before the event.
