The Congolese government launched a 180-day Ebola response plan in the capital Kinshasa on the 4th to expand and coordinate the response to the outbreak to stop the further spread of the epidemic. The WHO Regional Office for Africa issued a communiqué on the same day saying that the plan has received support from WHO and the African Center for Disease Prevention and Control. The main contents include strengthening epidemic surveillance, close contact tracing, patient treatment, community mobilization, risk communication and logistics support, and improving response preparedness in areas at risk of the spread of the epidemic. The plan is expected to cost $1.3 billion.
