The Zhitong Finance App learned that S&P Dow Jones Indices said on Friday that Bloom Energy Corp. (BE.US), Illumina Inc. (ILMN.US), and Everpure Inc. (P.US) will be included in the S&P 500 index in the latest quarterly adjustments.

The three companies will replace Molson Coors Beverage Co. before opening on September 21, according to the index provider. , Trade Desk Inc., and Builders FirstSource Inc.

In after-hours trading, Bloom Energy shares rose 6%, Illumina 1.7%, and Everpure 2.2%.

Fuel cell manufacturer Bloom Energy announced results in July that were more than double what was expected and raised its full-year performance forecast for the second consecutive quarter, indicating that demand from data centers is extremely strong. The company produces fuel cells that use natural gas to generate electricity, and its systems are in high demand to power data centers.

Life sciences company Illumina also raised its total revenue forecast for the full year to a level higher than analysts' estimates in July, and the results announced by computer storage company Everpure also exceeded expectations.

The development of passive investing has increased the importance of being included in the S&P 500 index. According to the July guidelines, companies must have a market capitalization of at least $22.7 billion and meet the requirements of profitability, liquidity, and freely tradable shares to be eligible for the index.

As part of a non-cyclical adjustment, Reddit Inc. joined the S&P 500 Index in August to replace AvalonBay Communities Inc.
