US Central Command: On September 5, after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran fired ballistic missiles at two US Navy warships patrolling regional waters, US Central Command forces attacked three Iranian crude oil carriers. An American aircraft carrier and a missile destroyer successfully escaped multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. There were no US military casualties. Following the failure of the Iranian attack, the Central Command permanently destroyed the Islamic Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps crude oil carriers “Downey” and “Stark 1”, located in the waters off Kharg Island and the waters off Jask, respectively. The US military also completely destroyed an empty crude oil carrier “Kilo” in the Gulf of Oman. After the crew were ordered to abandon the ship, the US military hit several key parts of the ship, making it impossible to sail.
