02:00 AM EDT, 09/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The combination of AstraZeneca's (AZN.L, AZN.ST) Etcamah with a cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor was cleared for the treatment of adult patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative, locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer in the US. The Etcamah combination was greenlit as an option for advanced breast cancer patients whose tumours develop ESR1 mutations before clinical or radiographic disease progression, according to a Sept. 4 release. The approval was supported by the pharmaceutical giant's Serena-6 phase III trial results, which exhibited a 56% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death in patients with an emergent ESR1 tumour mutation. The combination's safety profile aligned with the known safety profile of each medicine.
