On September 2, 2026, under the joint witness of the heads of state of China and Egypt, Zheng Zhajie, director of the National Development and Reform Commission and the head of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Overseas Expatriates signed the “Memorandum of Understanding between the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Overseas Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt on key cooperation matters connecting the “Belt and Road” initiative with the “Vision 2030”, which will promote practical cooperation in various fields under the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” cooperation framework. Furthermore, on behalf of the National Data Administration, Director Zheng Zhajie signed the “Memorandum of Understanding between the National Data Administration of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Arab Republic of Egypt on Strengthening Cooperation in the Digital Economy”. The two sides will strengthen digital economy policy dialogue and promote practical cooperation in the digital economy.
