ABB, Rolls-Royce SMR Sign MoU for Potential Small Modular Reactor Collaboration

06:05 AM EDT, 09/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- ABB (ABBN.SW, ABB.ST) entered into a memorandum of understanding with Rolls-Royce SMR to explore potential collaboration on small modular reactors, according to a Tuesday release. Under the potential collaboration, the Swedish-Swiss engineering and technology company will explore how its automation, electrification, instrumentation, and communication services could help scale up Rolls-Royce SMR's plans for a fleet of small modular reactor units. Rolls-Royce SMR is backed by British companies Rolls-Royce (RR.L) and BNF Resources, as well as Qatar Investment Authority and ČEZ (CEZ.PR, CEZ.F).
