Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (OTC:SSNLF) is deepening its investment in advanced semiconductor manufacturing as artificial intelligence drives demand for more powerful, efficient and cost-effective memory and logic chips.
Samsung expanded its strategic partnership with ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML), increasing collaboration around High Numerical Aperture Extreme Ultraviolet, or High NA EUV, lithography and other advanced manufacturing technologies.
Samsung will join an industry initiative to develop 12-inch photomasks, replacing the 6-inch format that the semiconductor industry has used for decades.
The companies expect larger masks, combined with High NA EUV, to increase factory productivity, lower chipmaking costs and eliminate stitching constraints. The transition could help manufacturers capture more of High NA EUV’s benefits and make future leading-edge chips more economical to produce.
Samsung plans to work with ASML and other industry partners to develop the necessary mask technologies and supporting infrastructure.
The company brings expertise across both memory and foundry manufacturing, along with experience using advanced EUV lithography.

Samsung also plans to introduce ASML’s High NA EUV technology into high-volume DRAM manufacturing by 2028, which the companies said would mark the industry’s first such deployment.
The company expects High NA EUV’s improved resolution to extend the DRAM scaling roadmap while simplifying manufacturing processes and increasing efficiency.
The companies also plan to explore further collaboration across advanced memory and new manufacturing approaches.
Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Young Hyun Jun said AI is increasing the importance of technological innovation throughout the semiconductor supply chain.
ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet called Samsung one of the company’s most important long-term innovation partners and said closer cooperation will become increasingly important as AI reshapes semiconductor demand.
ASML Price Action: ASML Holding shares were up 2.95% at $1765.50 during premarket trading on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
