On September 8, Walmart China officially signed the “Walmart China East China Smart Logistics Hub” project agreement with government departments in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. This is Walmart's largest single supply chain investment in the 30 years since it entered the Chinese market. The project will carry out a comprehensive upgrade and reconstruction of Walmart's original distribution center in Jiaxing, China. Construction is scheduled to begin within 2026 and be completed and put into operation in 2029. According to the plan, the upgraded East China Smart Logistics Hub consists of five buildings. The total construction area will be expanded from the current approximately 48,000 square meters to 278,000 square meters, and the average daily processing capacity will increase by about 4 times.
