According to a Mizuho Securities report, rising memory chip prices are squeezing the global mobile phone market. Under this general environment, Samsung Electronics' performance is expected to outperform most mobile phone manufacturers; at the same time, Samsung's semiconductor business continues to benefit from the same supply shortage. The Japanese brokerage firm predicts that in 2026, global smartphone shipments will be 1.15 billion units, down 9% year on year; Samsung's shipments are expected to remain flat at 240 million units. Mizuho said that Samsung and Apple are in a relatively favorable position to obtain supplies of memory chips, and that the product structure is more biased towards flagship models. The two companies have more space to absorb rising costs, or pass on costs to consumers through price adjustments.
