Hogs Posting Midday Losses

Lean hog futures are facing midday pressure on Friday, with contracts down 92 cents to $1.17. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Friday morning due to thin trade. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 57 cents on September 9 at $88.22. 

Weekly Export Sales data showed 27,435 MT of pork sold for 2026 in the week ending on September 3, a 3-week low. Shipments were pegged at 30,187 MT, a 4-week high. 

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up 30 cents in the Friday AM report, at $92.11. The butt, picnic, and loin were the primals reported lower. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Thursday at 493,000 head. That took the week to date total to 1.458 head, well shy of the same week last year due to Monday’s holiday.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $82.225, down $0.925,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $73.175, down $1.175

Feb 27 Hogs are at $75.650, down $1.175,
