Yesterday, the main forum of the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum was held at the Zhangjiang Science Hall in Shanghai. Representatives from the global science, technology, industry, and investment community had in-depth exchanges on topics such as international cooperation in basic research and breakthroughs in cutting-edge technology, and jointly promoted the construction of an international scientific and technological innovation highland in the Shanghai Yangtze River Delta. At the opening ceremony of the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum, a major project of the Yangtze River Delta Basic Research Joint Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China was launched. The project was jointly established by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the three provinces of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui. It follows the “unified funding, joint question submission, joint management, and common answer to the same question” mechanism to jointly establish a fund pool of 250 million yuan per year to support basic research. From 2027 to 2031, during the five-year cooperation period, the total cost will reach 1.25 billion yuan. At the same time, the Yangtze River Delta scientific data sharing service platform started joint construction. Science and technology data resources from one city and three provinces will be brought together, so that scientific data can flow freely and be used efficiently within the region.
