According to a report by US automotive media Motor1 on September 8, BMW recently launched a video data plan to enable car owners to become real road safety testers: Starting in April 2026, in specific markets, models equipped with designated operating systems and sensor kits will record short video clips when dangerous situations are detected, and customer videos will be uploaded to the cloud. According to BMW, each captured event combines images from an external camera with data from an external sensor, and includes up to 120 seconds of unedited video. This length of time covers the process before and after the incident, without creating a rolling archive of mileage.
