Citi published a report estimating that BYD's inventory at the end of August fell slightly by 0.01 month on month and remained at a normal level. Assuming a 3% month-on-month increase in exports in September and a potential monthly increase of 20,000 NEVs with second-generation blade batteries, the bank believes that inventory turnover is expected to remain stable for 1.9 months, which in turn will support the overall wholesale volume of 453,000 vehicles in September, an increase of 4.6% month-on-month. The above assumption means that the total sales volume for the third quarter of 2026 will reach 1.3 million units, up 19.2% quarterly, of which exports will be 565,000, up 20% from quarter to quarter, and domestic wholesale volume will be 733,000 units, up 18.7% from quarter to quarter. Citi maintained BYD's “buy” rating, mainly because BYD regained market share of domestic pure electric vehicles in August, and the target price for H shares was HK$142.
