Waymo, Nippon Transportation Co., Ltd., and GO said in the Waymo website blog that the three parties have reached an agreement to commercialize the driverless online car-hailing service in Tokyo in 2027. This timeline is dependent on obtaining regulatory approval, as well as completing the current verification work of Waymo's technology and joint operation projects. This service can be ordered through both Go and Waymo apps. The fleet will gradually expand to around 100 vehicles, covering many core areas of Tokyo.
