The appointment of Yan Wentao, who has trading experience, to this position will be an important step in DeepSeek's transformation. Originally a research-focused lab funded by the founder's hedge fund, the company is now moving to a more conventional corporate structure. The CFO generally plays a central role in managing investor communications, financial control, capital allocation, and information disclosure processes required for listing.
